How Were LEGO Bricks Invented?

During my visit to LEGO in Billund, Denmark with FIRST I learned that when young people are engaged in playful STEM activities they ignite their natural curiosity, grow their knowledge, and develop habits of learning. In addition to playing around in the LEGO House experience zones I was able to tour the manufacturing floor where LEGO bricks are created and spend some time with a LEGO historian! I was able to see some of the original LEGO wooden toys along with their first plastic injection molding machine!

This experience along with my personal love for LEGO and FIRST LEGO League is why I was so excited that Mystery Science asked me for help to answer the question: How were LEGO bricks invented?
